The internet is a big place with all kinds of people from around the world. Most of us have come across someone on the internet that is not being very nice. I also have come across a lot of bad people, including scammers, cyber bullies, dishonest individuals, predators, fake news, spammers, and more. Technically, these are all types of online harassment, even if it is not directed towards you. Scammers can financially destroy you, cyber bullies can emotionally hurt you, dishonest people and misinformation can cause you to lash out at others for disagreeing with you, and spammers can be highly annoying and likely involve scams.
How do you deal specifically with cyber bullies? The first thing you must know is that it's not your fault. It is them that have the problem, not you. Often people harass others online due to jealousy, low self esteem, and disagreement of what you're saying. Often, a cyberbully will verbally harass others online because they think they will get away with it easier than in real life. The best solution to solve this is to block them. Blocking them will stop them from being able to contact you. One problem is that on the majority of websites and apps, they can simply create a new account and go after you again. On certain apps you can disable new messages unless you have a friendship status with them, making it nearly impossible to continue to go after you. If this option isn't available, contact the website's moderators and administrators and tell them what is going on. Moderators and administrators have the power to ban the person if they become out of control. If you can't do that, you may have to contact your local authorities. Safe to tell is one of the better ways to report online bullying and harassment. They are very compassionate people and will take action against the bully.
